JUN 27 [1876]" postmark and killer and red Philadelphia exchange office foreign mail postmark on intact cover to London, England, cover with central vertical bend and corner bend at bottom left clear of stamps and markings. The #178 with blunt perfs at right and small corner bend. Use of this 1876 Centennial postmark on mail to foreign destinations is quite scarce. SOLD

j0062 #156, VF, scissor trimmed at bottom, tied by an XF strike of fancy 5 wedges in circle killer on VF fresh and intact printed U.S. District Clerk's Office Southern District of N.Y. printed bankruptcy notice. This New York circular mail (NYCM) killer was first reported and illustrated in Part III (figure 23, p. 13) of Issue 216, January 1995 USCC NEWS article by Valenti on "New York City Cancellations on Circulars and Printed Matter, 1870-1878". Both the illustrated and offered covers are from the same correspondence from March 1875, the offered cover with a more complete strike of this killer. Very scarce. SOLD

JUN 15 postmark and red NEW YORK PAID ALL JUN 16 exchange office postmark, stamps paying the 11¢ NGU closed mail rate to Constantinople, Turkey. Red New York crayon "4" (cent credit to Germany) and light red "Wf 2" hand stamp (weiterfranco 2 silbergroschen foreign postage notation), "Kaiserlich Deutsches Postamp" receiver on reverse. Sent to Rev. Geo. Washburn, "For Mrs. Washburn". Clean and attractive cover, scarce rate.

Circular docketed "pr Newbern via Mazatlan". Blue crayon "5" [centavo] internal postage due for conveyance from Mazatlan to Tepic. A beautiful foreign destination circular usage.

OCT 29 1885 triple ring postmark (DPO Bossier County, 1871-86, Helbock R6 scarcity) on cover to Shreveport, 6mm reduction at left.
