10055 #11A, pos. 85L1L (double transfer), sound, large margins to in, rich color, rare blue tombstone-style "KENSINGTON CON. MAR 5" postmark (Simpson's/Alexander 29, pp. 18-19, 8 rarity), to Salisbury Conn., intact cover, slight wear, VF, unusual marking, ex Knapp, Saadi. $300
10053 #11A, sound, full margins to just in at left, bold strike of "FREE" in arc cancel, matching "FAIRFIELD Va. AUG. 24" postmark, with manuscript date, 1853 folded letter to Staunton Va., illustrated in 1851 Sesquicentennial book p. 328, ex Saadi, 1996 PFC. $250
10002 #11, fine, sound, canceled by a bold and well struck fancy boxed "WEST HARTFORD, Ct. Nov 27" postmark killer on VF cover to Milton CT. Penciled "Nov. 26, '56" docketed date at upper left. This postmark is rarely found this nice and fully canceling stamp. $200
9991 #10A, (no inner line at left), large margins to clear and tied by two VF strikes of St. Louis boxed "1ct" hand stamp on blue folded letter datelined "New Orleans 6 Aug. 1851" to St. Louis, apparently carried by steamer then deposited at PO.  Exceptionally scarce cancellation to be found on a 3¢ stamp. $175

9715 #10, fine, tied by bold grid killer with superb matching large WEST MANCHESTER PA. AUG 11 [1851] postmark (DPO Allegheny County 1850-68, Helbock 6 scarcity) on intact FLS, some mild bleaching. Stamp attached to FLS by wax seal and grill impression.  Cover image on the online USPCS American Postal Markings Catalog.  A wonderful example of a scarce, early Pennsylvania, Allegheny County postal marking. $125
9632 #11A, fine full right margin copy (pos. 80R3) just touching at bottom, bearing a superb fancy waffle grid geometric killer, CANTON Mi. NOV 23 [1853] postmark on XF external FLS (no content) to New Orleans. Ex Rohloff, Allen. This Canton, Mississippi killer is actually much scarcer than Canton's better known pictorial killers.  It was first reported (and a different example illustrated) in an article by Hubert Skinner in USPCS Chronicle 192. p 254, described as a "scarce design".  Beautiful early fancy cancellation! $550
9680 #11, sound, margins clear to touching, MOUNT PLEASANT O. JUN 18 postmark ties to VF intact cover to NEWPORT RI where struck by its large red "ADVERTISED 1ct.", a rare, striking advertised hand stamp. MAY 8 postmark on essentially intact buff cover to NIAGRA FALLS N.Y. with a superb strike of its unusual, abbreviated "ADv." and "MAY 15", 2 blue advertised hand stamps. Ex Milgram, the listing copy used for his USPCS Chronicle 231 article on advertised mail 1851-57, illustrated p. 219 plate 2.  The cover was also illustrated in an earlier Milgram Chronicle 228 article, p. 317. 80

SMITH'S ELECTRIC OIL * THE GREAT ABSORBENT, Only Cure for Rheumatism, Palsey, Asthma, &c., &c.".  The cover back bears a detailed picture of the vendor's warehouse ("DR. SMITH'S CENTRAL FAMILY MEDICINE DEPOT") surrounded by more extensive claims of the oil's curative powers: "The New Theory Vindicated!!"; "APPROVED BY 300 PHYSICIANS AND MANY EMINENT DEALERS IN All parts of the Country."  A wonderful example of early medicine advertising. $350

8433 #11A, in at top and right, internal wrinkle, bearing an XF SOTN strike of multibar rectangular geometric killer (Simpson/Alexander 70, pp. 134-135) on XF FLS, LYBRAND, IOWA Feb 26 (1855) manuscript postmark (DPO Allamakee County 1852-68, Helbock R7).  This is a rare and exceedingly attractive early fancy hand stamp killer from a very scarce small town.  2022 PFC, "genuine use".
