#65, fine, small faults, cork killer and light PHILADELPHIA PA postmark on VF intact illustrated advertising cover, R. S. Scott FLORIST picturing his greenhouse, to Morrisville, with Station A Philadelphia back stamp, 1866 docketing at left.

#11, fine, sound, PHILADELPHIA JUN 15 postmark ties to VF intact 2-sided illustrated quack medicine advertising cover.  Cover front has a blue oval corner "* A.E. SMITH'S ELECTRIC OIL * THE GREAT ABSORBENT, Only Cure for Rheumatism, Palsey, Asthma, &c., &c.".  The cover back bears a detailed picture of the vendor's warehouse ("DR. SMITH'S CENTRAL FAMILY MEDICINE DEPOT") surrounded by more extensive claims of the oil's curative powers: "The New Theory Vindicated!!"; "APPROVED BY 300 PHYSICIANS AND MANY EMINENT DEALERS IN All parts of the Country."  A wonderful example of early medicine advertising.

#87, New York City rosette killer ties on oversized allover illustrated Guffroy's Dragees Sugar Coated Pills of Cod Liver Extract buff shaded unsealed advertising cover showing Cod Fish & four country medallions. Cover sent to Hallowell, ME, with original 14 page brochure on the active medicinal principles of cod liver. Extremely fine, one of the finest examples of this early allover advertising design.  Exceptional, ex-Faust.

#73, VF, sound, PAINESVILLE O. OCT 31 double ring postmark ties to VF intact illustrated advertising cover for West Union Commercial College, Painesville & Berea, Ohio. Minor smudging at bottom right.

#210, F+, sound, ellipse and BOSTON MASS FEB 20 85 postmark on immaculate, intact blue & red advertising cover for D. L. Guernsey promoting investment services. Guernsey was a noted Boston publisher. Very scarce.

#213, VF, sound, KANSAS CITY MO. FEB 3 1889 postmark tied to VF intact advertising cover with terrific illustration of a racing hound, "If I'm not caught in 5 7/8 days, I'll return to EGN EW and WINGATE REAL ESTATE". Great dog image cover.

#206, VF SE copy, on VF large wrapper with front and back advertising for Hood's Sarsaparilla, promoted for numerous medicinal remedies. Wrapper addressed to single name without address, an obvious local mailing.  Scarce advertising wrapper.

#182, VF, sound, tied by simplex grid on wrapper made from a refolded illustrated envelope for Boston Electric Co., an extremely early example of electrification advertising. Locally mailed and forwarded to Lower Bartlett NH. Very unusual.

#147, edge fault, tied by VF geometric killer, NEW YORK FEB 16 postmark VF on intact advertising cover picturing a silver trompe-l'œil medallion for John Matthews, soda water apparatus.  Matthews is noted as the father of the soda fountain. Nice.

#65, fine, NEW YORK JAN 4 1864 double ring postmark with XF strike of circular geometric killer (similar to Skinner-Eno GE-C 121-3) on green embossed cameo advertisement for fish commission merchant (codfish, mackerel, tongues & sounds, smoked halibut), tear in cameo. Nice combination of fancy cancel and advertising. Ex-ERIVAN.

#372, fine Hudson-Fulton Celebration issue, New York Madison Sq. Sta. OCT 22 1909 machine cancel, on illustrated postcard to England, picturing Robert Fulton, "the pioneer of steam navigation". Minor edge wear. Interesting card tying together its subject with the commemorative issue's subject.

#U282, VF intact manila 2¢ entire, BOSTON, MASS. AUG 2 1887 postmark, with very scarce early multicolor advertising (3 colors: red, gold, green) for HECKER'S WHEAT GRANULES cereal. Very attractive.

#114, fair-fine, sound, tied by quartered cork killer, BALTIMORE, MD, DEC 23 postmark on VF advertising cover for Wilhelm's Hotel & Drove Yard picturing horses, cattle, sheep and pigs. Terrific design, great eye appeal. Just reduced at left.

#U379, XF and fresh, intact 1¢ Franklin entire, canceled QUITMAN, GA., JUN 22, 1907, illustrated by a bi-color black Jim Crow racist caricature of an elderly black man cutting watermelon for black children. Unsealed circular mailing contained melon quotations.  A highly desirable addition to any collection on Black History or related.
